Turn a podcast's episode list and show notes into a PDF by converting its RSS feed. Every public podcast runs on an RSS feed. Each episode sits inside an <item> tag, with its audio file linked in an <enclosure> tag. The PDF you generate will contain episode titles, dates, and show note summaries as text. It will not include the audio files. Here is how to find the feed URL, what the PDF can and cannot capture, and the steps to create one.
Why Save a Podcast Feed as a PDF
A podcast RSS feed is a structured text archive of every episode. It holds titles, publication dates, author information, and show notes. Turn that feed into a PDF and you get a portable, searchable, offline document of the episode list. Use it for reference, research, or sharing a podcast's episode catalog without an internet connection or a podcast app. The PDF preserves the textual content of the feed. It does not include audio files, images from the feed, or the podcast website's layout.
How to Find a Podcast RSS Feed URL
From the Podcast's Website or Hosting Provider
Look for an RSS link in the footer, in the subscribe options, or near the episode list. The link usually points to a URL ending in .xml or /rss. Click a button labelled 'Subscribe' or 'RSS Feed' and the feed URL appears in your browser's address bar. Copy it.
From Apple Podcasts
Apple Podcasts pages do not show the RSS URL directly. Use a third-party service or find the podcast's own website. Alternatively, search for the podcast name plus 'RSS feed'.
General Search
Search for the podcast name followed by 'RSS feed' or 'feed URL'. Many podcast directories also provide the feed link on the podcast's detail page. Once you have the URL, copy it to your clipboard.
What the PDF Includes and What it Cannot Include
The PDF gives you a text document with this content from the 25 most recent episodes:
- Episode titles
- Author (the podcast creator or host)
- Publication dates
- Show notes as plain text (HTML tags are stripped, so formatting is removed)
The PDF does not include:
- Audio files (the <enclosure> tag links to the audio, but the PDF only contains text)
- Images from the feed
- The podcast website's layout or design
- Full HTML formatting (only plain text summaries are rendered)
If the feed is larger than 5 MB, the fetch fails. You will not get a PDF. Most feeds are smaller, but very large feeds with many episodes or long show notes may exceed this limit.
Convert a Podcast RSS Feed to PDF
Step by Step
- Find the podcast RSS feed URL using the methods above.
- Open a web browser and go to a site that offers RSS to PDF conversion, such as rss2pdf.com.
- Paste the feed URL into the input field.
- Click the button to convert or generate the PDF. The tool fetches the feed and renders the 25 most recent items.
- Download the resulting PDF file to your device.
The PDF contains episode titles, author, dates, and plain text summaries for the most recent 25 episodes. If the feed has fewer than 25 items, all items appear.
Limitations to Keep in Mind
- Feed size limit: The tool accepts feeds up to 5 MB. Larger feeds fail.
- Only the most recent 25 items: Older episodes are not included.
- No audio: The PDF is text only. You cannot listen from it.
- HTML stripped: Show notes with HTML formatting appear as plain text. Links and bold are lost.
- Public feeds only: The feed URL must be public (http or https). Private or password-protected feeds will not work.
Practical Use Cases for a Podcast PDF Archive
- Offline reference: Save the PDF to your device or print it. Read it anywhere.
- Research and cataloging: Keep a record of episode titles and show notes for a podcast you are studying or referencing.
- Sharing: Send the PDF to someone who wants to browse a podcast's episode list but does not use podcast apps.
- Backup: Create a snapshot of a podcast's feed content at a specific point in time.
